An Evening at Kandilli

At school we refer to this place merely as "Kandilli". On our way to an invitation to dinner there, with Müfit Bodur in the driving seat (literally and in all other meanings of the word), I knew that I had to provide a more formal name to the place when (not if) we got lost. My first try, "rasathane" turned out not to be much of a help. Make sure that you ask for "Deprem Arastirmalari Enstitüsü".

This place arguably has the best view of the Bosphorus, a view that is partially hindered, or, rather, greatly enhanced by an abundance of trees.

Hakan Jr., the youngest member of the party.

Tony sticks a finger at the camera, accusing the cameraman of not giving him a chance "to adjust". His close friends know what he means: He carries a bottle of some liquid that he applies to his beard whenever he confronts a camera. When the shot was taken, only part of his moustache had benefited from that liquid.
Ayse's attention, while she pretends to be listening to him, lies elsewhere.

Ersin, enjoying a brief rest during an evening that was spent labouring at queues for food.
